Some of our Canada 150 Networks involve schools as follows:
Reflecting on the Past through examining changes that have taken place in our organizations or communities (or organizations that served the function of a group before it started). Reflections are in 50 year snapshots (perhaps 10 year for the last 50 years) starting in 1867. We are primarily doing this using local history books and summarizing stories found in the book. We have done an in school field trip and individual class projects.
Evaluating the Present by reflecting on where our organizations and communities are now and discuss what issues they currently face and planning to address these issues for the future. We are doing school web reviews to see what schools are doing, who the staff is and what they are doing to archive for the future etc.. We also have a project for evaluating 150 versions of Oh Canada.
Envisioning the Future by encouraging ongoing involvement in preserving history and planning for the future.
